How can you make sure that you're getting what you pay for?
Weights and Measures inspectors from the PA Department of Agriculture work behind the scenes to help ensure consumers, businesses and manufacturers are getting exactly what they pay for when purchasing energy products like motor fuels, home delivery heating oil, hard or soft coal, liquid petroleum (LP) gas and firewood, and at retail stores by inspecting scales and scanners.
We are fully compliant with these regulations and sell our firewood by the cord, which is 128 cubic feet of firewood. Pictured here is a stack of firewood 4' x 4' x 8' when the wood is "ranked and well stowed", which means the pieces are touching and parallel to each other, and stacked in a compact manner. We stack our wood in 4' x 4' x 4' pallets and store it under cover. You can buy fractions of a cord or an entire cord, which is two of our filled pallets. Don't be fooled by yards or Facebook Marketplace sellers selling firewood by weight, by the bucket, or by the truckload.
The wood has to be stacked well so you can be sure that you're getting what you pay for. If you're out camping (maybe at Keystone State Park right down the road?) and don't need a lot of wood, we have you covered. Stop over and we can sell you a few cubic feet of firewood to get you through the night. Bonus... no sales tax on firewood!
